Video Coupons: Blockbuster And Hollywood Video

By:

Published: November 3, 2006

With the popularity of online movie rental services like Netflix and independent film specialists like Greencine, video stores are doing all they can to stem the loss of rentals. Analog video rental stores like Hollywood Video and Blockbuster Video (before taking part of their operation online) and a host of independently run and operated stores and other small local and national video stores are doing all they can to draw movie-watchers back to the video shop.

Blockbuster Video and Hollywood Video are two of the most popular national chain video stores. Since Blockbuster's online video service has struggled to gain ground on Netflix and Hollywood Video has, as of yet, not followed Blockbusters lead.  Both stores continue to do all they can to appeal to customers with various coupons, deals and special offers.

For those that remain loyal to their local video store and others that have made the switch to online rental services, but wax nostalgic for trips to the video store, rental chains like Blockbuster Video and Hollywood Video, still encourage your business. Both stores as well as the smaller chains offer loyalists a plenitude of incentives in the way of discounts: free movie rentals, rent two-get one deals, and even rent one-get one deals, Blockbuster coupons, and Hollywood Video coupons. Their promotions are little in the way of competition for online rental sites with memberships costing as little as $5.99 for two movies or $17.99 three movies at-a-time rentals (not much over the price of a one-time, 5 day movie rental).

With the right search terms, Blockbuster coupons and Hollywood Video coupons can be just a click away. Websites like couponmountain.com, dealcatcher.com and couponcommando.com offer, at least periodically, Blockbuster coupons. In addition to coupons, many Blockbuster locations also offer in-store deals on rentals.

Blockbuster's competitor, Hollywood Video, also offers store coupons regularly for members of HollywoodVideo.com on the video store's website (membership to the site is free). Also, the mobile phone application, Cell Fire, available as a free download on many carriers, regularly offers Hollywood Video coupons (if a participating Hollywood Video is in your neighborhood). Although Hollywood Video and Blockbuster coupons offer great deals, Hollywood Video's Movie Value Pass (MVP) membership (a pay membership), has coupons beat hands down.

The MVP membership, much like online memberships to Netflix and Blockbuster, offers multiple rentals for extended or unlimited days and nights at a flat rate. Hollywood Video offers three MVP membership plans–one basic and two premium packages. Although the MVP package has the convenient, traditional aspect of going to the video store, most Hollywood Video location libraries pale in comparison to the archives of Netflix or even Blockbuster.
